History gives. History connects families, honors heroes, teaches lessons, builds economies, fosters pride. When we opened the West Virginia Mine Wars Museum, we dreamed that hundreds of people would join us to celebrate and honor our history by passing it on to the next generation. And last May, this dream came true.
Since then, thousands of visitors from across the state and throughout the country have come through the doors… and we’re just getting started!
Next year, with your help, this history will grow beyond the walls of the storefront and you can be a part of it. We hope to take Mine Wars History into classrooms with newly made coloring books and bandanas, to hit the road with our new Mobile Museum, to host “History in the Hills” events--and so much more!
You can make these new dreams possible this holiday season. Please give the gift of history and make your tax-deductible donation to the West Virginia Mine Wars Museum today!
Next summer, the first West Virginia Mine Wars Museum newsletter will be hot off the presses, packed with Museum news, Mine Wars stories, merchandise offers and more! Give to help get this brand new publication in the hands of Museum supporters!

The West Virginia Mine Wars Museum would not be possible without our storefront in downtown Matewan and the funds raised to pay rent, electric, water, and phone bills. Give to help ensure this museum is here to stay.
The West Virginia Mine Wars Museum is possible because of our incredible all-volunteer board. Now, with the doors open and a year of new programs ahead, you can give to help us bring on our first Director!
